Because it’s so important, same as human check ups. Always expensive.

i think it is because dogs are sooo complex and there are alot more things to look for on a dog! like we dont get fleas but they do ! that is just another thing to check!

if you think thats expensive than you think about how much a xray four shots precription food and a checkup costs !800 thats what i paid last time i went to the vet

  • because you don’t have health insurance for your dog. A doctor’s visit would be crazy expensive if you weren’t insured.

  • I do agree with you, but it’s an expense that we have to pay. After spending thousands on expensive surgeries for dogs in the past, it’s not so hard for me to pay for shots anymore. *heh*

Just like any kind of doctors appointment. They will get you where they can to get there money. The best thing is pay for pet insurance like through Petsmart and then alot of stuff is free. Checkups are free but of coarse you are paying a monthly $15.00 fee. But any kind of mishap or problem you can go right in and alot of stuff will be covered. Where if you don’t pay for the insurance then like everyone else you PAY BIG.

Did you ever think for a minute how much it costs for a vet to be in practice??? Medical school bills for six years of college. The building, with all of its maintenance costs, taxes and utilities, equipment including cages and tables and x-ray machines and needles and a thousand other things. A well-trained staff to answer the phones and handle and care for the animals and keep the place clean. And those people get benefits and days off and there are payroll taxes and insurance. How many doctors own their own building, have to buy all of that equipment and have a dozen people working for them??? Your exam fee is paltry for quality care if you think about it!!!!!
