Answer this question – Would you drink green water? If the answer is no, as it should be, why would you think your dog should drink it?

I have the perfect solution for your problem!….I live in the south and even though I change my dog’s water daily algae begins to grow in a matter of hours due to the high humidity. To keep the algae from growing just place a stalk of fresh mint with approx. 4-5 leaves in the fresh water. Crush it in your hand first to release the natural oils from the leaves.

Fresh mint will keep algae from growing and misquitos also hate mint plus your dog will have nice fresh breath!

Are you serious?? In their water dish?? I wash our water dishes at least 2 times a day.. Rinse them thoroughly each time I put down fresh clean water.. Which is probably 6 ot 7 times a day. I have never had water turn green.. You are not putting down fresh water often enough.. Especially in this hot weather.. How lazy can someone be????

it’s recommended you give your dogs fresh water daily. Any water that sits longer and grows algae grows bacteria as well. Always change your dogs water daily!!

Why would you let him drink green water? better yet why do you even let it turn green? I have to say I think your being a little lazy.I change my puppy’s water all the time not just to keep it clean but the water warms down after a while they need fresh clean water, I even carry a cold bottle of water with me when we go out.

I just want to say it is a health risk , I wouldn’t drink it so why would your dog. The water should be changed daily and the bowl cleaned out every three four days. Algae is not the only thing in there there are plenty of germs and bacteria that that can be harmful to your dog.

Anyone that cares for their animal would change the water daily.
How much effort does that take, and what does it cost? I’m sorry, but if you have to ask this question, you shouldn’t have an animal

I soooooo love it when negligent pet owners post questions like this, which basically amount to, “Is it OK for me to not take good care of my dog?” Usually they are angry later and say that people were rude or judgmental in their answers. People have been rude to you, and some have been a little judgmental, too. Guess what. You deserve it. It is negligent, lazy and careless not to change the dog’s water every day. Not mention dangerous and unhealthy for the dog. If you can’t spend a few seconds doing this simple thing for your pet, then pack him up and give him to someone who will take proper care of him.
