Should health checks for dogs be registered by breeders?
Anca asked:
A little complicated. I know about the OFA and CERF registries for hip, elbow, eyes, etc. disorders. However, would a reputable breeder have tests done on a dog, yet not register the results? That is, would they have a vet do the tests and confirm the dog clear for breeding purposes, but not bother to pay to have the results added to the registry?

Also, these registries are American (although dogs from some other countries are registered). Are there equivalent registries for other countries?
Thanks.

Where can I find answers regarding dogs affecting human health? Do I have to keep it completly away from baby?
timsmith35 asked:
We are expecting a baby and also have a new puppy. We’re concerned about what precautions need to be taken if any regarding the babies health. If the dog sleeps in our bed is it ever safe to put the baby on the bed? Are there risks if the dog happens to lick the babies face? Can the baby become sick from contact with the dog? Can the baby crawl on the floor where the dog also walks? We keep the dog clean and bathe her every 10-15 days. But, they are dogs…. are they cleaner than the common stereotype? Hopefully someone can put us in the right direction to answers.

Thank you so much for any and all help in advance !

Would it have a drastic effect to your dogs health if you dye or highlight his hair? Or even porcelain veener?
Cerisse Sinclair asked:
Or to put, like earings on him.
I mean, porcelain veener his teeth.
I mean, would those things I just mentioned make him clinically sick? I pedicure…is that a bad thing to do to a dog? What if the dog is a hybrid of a Alaskan Gray Wolf Mother and an Irish Wolfhound father…would that matter?
Don’t ask me why I would do it…just answer the question please and thank you. You do want the best answer points wouldn’t you?

Does anyone remember “Pet Sparky”? I’m told it was a supplement fed to dogs to promote longevity and health.
Kristina R asked:
If you don’t remember this product, but know of another that also promotes dog health and longevity I’d appreciate it if you’d share the name of the product. Thanks.
Thanks for your answer Smiley. You said your Dad used to use it. Do you know if they still make it; if not, does your Dad use a different product now?

are Guide Dogs more likely to have health problems?
Jordan M asked:
I’m curious if anyone can find any articles or websites that say if guide dogs are more likely to develop health problems like cancer because of their tasks that they have to perform.
Well i was thinking on the lines of having health problems because of stress??

Does Omega-3 fish oil have the same health effects on dogs as it does for humans?
fecked up asked:
Omega-3 fish oil can help prevent arthritis, and also apparantelly helps your mental health… that’s for humans. Would it have the same effect on dogs if they took one capsule on a regular basis? And would it be safe?

If it’s safe and it’ll help their health, I want to start giving my two dogs a capsule of fish oil each day with their breakfasts.

My neighbours are threatening to report me to environmental health for my dogs barking. What can they do?
soosie_bell asked:
I have recently moved house. My dogs are well looked after and don’t bark while I’m at home only when I’m out. What can the environmental health do? Can they take my dogs away? Can they prosecute me?
