Depending on how much time you have, it might be quicker to go and get another shot.
You would have to contact the previous owner regarding his records.
Your best bet may be to schedule him with a vet of your own and get him his shots yourself.
Why are you being forced to get rid of your dog? If its in the lease that no pets are allowed, then it wont matter if he has vaccines or not.
hey i would try calling it animal clinic you will probably have to know the name of the people who owne the dog before so they have a way to look it up. but im sure that those clinics keep records for awhile. i live in wyoming and the vets office i used to work at kept those records for 4 years it was a state law. so it kinda depends on your state. just call every aspca clinic you can with the old owners names, and possibly what they named the dog before you got it. they might file it under the dogs name or that info might help. try getting ahold of the people that owned the dog before that actually might be easier but who knows. you also might be able to just go get the shots again, alot of the vaccines are ok if they get two shots or whatever i dont know if that would help you out for the case but it would give you documents for now and possible bring up old records if you take the dog to a clinic owned or operated by aspca. GOOD LUCK ON COURT CASE!!
You can contact the ASPCA by going to:
I’m sure that they will be able to help you.
Good Luck!
Check with the local Petco or the SPCA about just getting another round of shots – it’s too bad to over inoculate a dog, but in many places, the rabies shot must be done in your name, or they won’t license the dog.
A for your legal troubles, look up your local board of renter’s rights – each state has free legal help, available online and over the phone. They can advise you on your rights as a tenant.
Keep in mind it matters greatly as to which came first, the lease or the dog – if there was no provision in the lease for a pet, or the pet exceeds the definition of what is allowable in the complex, you may need a new home – or your dog will. If they said it was fine to have a dog up to 30 pounds, and now your Lab has outgrown that, it would be a breach of the lease agreement. If the dog was involved in an incident with another tenant, that would also put you at the losing end.
Sad to say, but renting with a large dog is usually not successful – the rights of the many other tenants who do not own dogs will always come first, and that means you will need a home somewhere in a cottage or other place where a dog would be more appropriate and have more space to be a dog. But check with the housing board for help, at least for now.
My current vet had to get my permission to get the records of my dogs from their former vets. I would ask your new vet for help. I just had to make some phone calls, and the old vets faxed the information to the new vet.
